{"id":342673,"date":"2022-12-28T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-28T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reasons.org\/?post_type=publications&#038;p=342673"},"modified":"2022-12-28T05:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-12-28T13:00:00","slug":"what-is-your-position-on-biblical-inerrancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reasons.org\/christianity\/bible\/what-is-your-position-on-biblical-inerrancy","title":{"rendered":"What Is Your Position on Biblical Inerrancy?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Question of the Week:<\/strong> What position do you and the Reasons to Believe staff take on the inerrancy of Scripture and the reliability of the record of nature?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My Answer: <\/strong>All of us on staff and on the board of Reasons to Believe are required to sign and adhere to all the affirmations and denials of the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy (ICBI). Over a 10-year period in the 1970s and 1980s over 300 conservative, Bible-believing scholars convened to codify the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics, and the Chicago Statement of Biblical Application. They also produced about 2,000 pages of commentary on these statements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I believe the ICBI did an outstanding job on defining the inerrancy of both the book of Scripture and the book of nature. In the book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/support.reasons.org\/category\/format\/books\/four-views-on-creation-evolution-and-intelligent-design\">Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Intelligent Design<\/a><\/em>, I was the only author who adhered, without reservations, to the ICBI statements on biblical inerrancy and biblical hermeneutics.
