Rana earned a BS in chemistry with highest honors from West Virginia State College (now University) and a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry from Ohio University. He pursued postdoctoral studies on cell membranes at the Universities of Virginia and Georgia.<br><br>Several articles by Rana have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including <em>Biochemistry<\/em>, <em>Applied Spectroscopy<\/em>, <em>FEBS Letters<\/em>, <em>Journal of Microbiological Methods<\/em>, <em>Origins of Life and Evolution of Biospheres<\/em>, and <em>Journal of Chemical Education<\/em>. He also authored a chapter on molecular convergence and intentional design for the book <em>The Nature of Nature<\/em>, and cowrote a chapter on antimicrobial peptides for <em>Biological and Synthetic Membranes<\/em>. In addition, he has delivered numerous presentations at international scientific meetings and holds two patents.<br><br>Rana converted to Christianity during graduate school. Though he initially subscribed to the evolutionary paradigm, Rana eventually concluded that the elegance of biochemical systems can most reasonably be explained by a Creator\u2019s involvement.<br><br>In 1999, Rana joined the RTB team, and today he addresses science-and-faith hot topics through books\u2014including <em>Humans 2.0<\/em>,<em> Fit for a Purpose<\/em>, and<em> Dinosaur Blood and the Age of the Earth<\/em>\u2014blogs, articles, videos, television and radio interviews, and a popular weekly video podcast, <em>Stars, Cells, and God<\/em>. He has addressed audiences at over 800 universities, churches, and conferences around the world. He was also featured in <em>Museum of the Bible<\/em>\u2019s Scripture and Science exhibit in Washington, DC.<br><br>Rana lives in Southern California with his wife, Amy.
