Though Scripture only names three of their sons, their descendants would go on to fill the earth, carrying with them the weight of both <a href=\"\/adam-eve\/sin\/what-is-sin\">sin<\/a> and redemption. We find this family tree in Genesis 5. Matthew 1:8\u20139 jumps from Joram to Uzziah, omitting several generations mentioned in the Old Testament (1 Chronicles 3:11\u201312).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-14-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">A significant gap exists between Salmon and Boaz. Ruth 4:21\u201322 lists them as father and son, yet historically, there&#8217;s a 400-year gap between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-14-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Early Christian scholars recognized these differences. They proposed that Matthew and Luke had different purposes: Matthew emphasizes Jesus&#8217;s royal lineage, while Luke (3:23\u201338) highlights Jesus&#8217;s connection to all humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-14-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">These gaps <a href=\"\/christianity\/bible\/bible-contradictions\">don&#8217;t invalidate<\/a> the genealogies. Rather, they show that God&#8217;s plan extends beyond a simple list of names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-14-font-size\" id=\"h-jewish-and-arabic-origins\">Jewish and Arabic origins<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-14-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus&#8217;s genealogy unites diverse groups.
